Week at a Glance| Sept. 14-18th
Week Two has been filled with learning, activity, and opportunities for students to continue building a strong sense of belonging within their classrooms. Throughout the week, students have been working together to establish classroom routines, strengthen relationships, and create positive classroom cultures that will support their learning throughout the year.
One of our highlights this week was completing our first fire drill of the school year. Students and staff did an outstanding job demonstrating calm, safe, and respectful procedures. We were especially fortunate to have members of our local fire department on-site to support us, provide guidance, and share valuable feedback. How lucky were we to have their expertise helping us ensure our emergency procedures are as effective as possible!
Another exciting milestone occurred today as 74 student patrols completed their training. These student leaders play an important role in helping keep our school community safe. Over the coming weeks, you'll begin to see them reporting for duty before and after school. We are incredibly proud of their commitment to leadership and service.
Thank you to our students, staff, and families for another wonderful week at Valley View. The positive energy throughout the building continues to make our school a special place to learn and grow.
Staffing Update
Please join us in congratulating Ms. Sam Quinn, who has accepted the Assistant Principal position at Peter Lougheed School.
While we will certainly miss Ms. Quinn at Valley View, we are incredibly proud of her and excited about this well-deserved opportunity. Her dedication to students, staff, and families has had a tremendous impact on our school community, and we know she will continue to make a difference in her new role.
To support students and maintain consistency during this transition, we are pleased to welcome Ms. Rashmi Baldwin to Valley View. Ms. Baldwin is an experienced educator who will be joining the Grade 5/6 classroom over the next few weeks while we thoughtfully work through the interview process of finding the best long-term fit for our school community.
Our focus remains on ensuring a smooth and positive transition for students, and we are grateful to have Ms. Baldwin's experience and support during this time.
Thank you for your continued support as we celebrate Ms. Quinn's success and welcome Ms. Baldwin to Valley View.
School Council
Our first School Council Meeting of the 2026-2027 school year will take place online on Tuesday, September 15 at 6:00 p.m.
School Council plays an important role in supporting student success and strengthening the connection between school and home. Council members provide feedback, share perspectives, support initiatives, and help shape opportunities that enhance the educational experiences of all students at Valley View.
Whether you are a returning member or attending for the first time, we encourage all parents and guardians to join us. Attending School Council meetings is a great way to stay informed about school initiatives, connect with other families, and contribute to meaningful conversations about our school community.
We currently have three executive positions available:
- CBE Liaison
- Secretary
- Fundraising Coordinator
If you are interested in becoming more involved in the school community, we would love to have you consider one of these roles.
We would also like to remind families about our upcoming Casino Fundraiser on November 19 and 20. Casinos are one of the most significant fundraising opportunities available to schools and provide resources that directly benefit students through learning opportunities, technology, school enhancements, and enrichment experiences. Please keep an eye out for additional information in the coming weeks regarding volunteer opportunities and how you can support this important event.
Terry Fox Run 2026
Let's Finish It, Valley View!
On September 18, our school community will once again come together to honour Terry Fox and support cancer research.
Terry's story continues to inspire generations of Canadians. His determination, courage, and belief that one person can make a difference are lessons that still resonate today.
Last year, Valley View raised an impressive $1,350.
The question is: What can we accomplish together this year?
Students can support our fundraising efforts by:
- Donating through our Valley View Terry Fox fundraising page
- Bringing "Toonies for Terry" to school

Volunteers Welcome
Valley View benefits from an incredible community of parent and guardian volunteers. Whether you're helping on a field trip, supporting a classroom activity, or contributing at a special event, we appreciate your time and involvement.
A reminder that all volunteers must register each school year, even if you have volunteered previously.
Registration can be completed through the SchoolEngage section of your MyCBE account.
This year, community members who do not currently have a child attending a CBE school must complete their volunteer registration in person at the school. This allows us to review privacy expectations and complete required documentation.
