Week at a Glance | October 30 - November 3

Dear Families,

Well, the last week of October and start of November is here, and we’re doing amazing work here at Valley View School. Intentional work around literacy and numeracy is happening and students are working at their best. We’ve also had some fantastic field trips for both our Science and Community program students, and we’re looking forward to more exciting learning ahead.

Reminder – Morning Routines at Valley View

Thanks to all families who are working with us to ensure a smooth morning routine for everyone. We appreciate and recognize your efforts! Here are some reminders about what we expect for morning drop-off:

-Soft-Entry is from 7:50 am – 8:00 am and is the best time for your child to enter the school and get settled for the day. School starts promptly at 8:00 am.

-Use the “Kiss and Go” to drive up, park, kiss your child, and drive away. This lane is not for parking so you can wait in the school grounds for your child to enter. There is street parking available in the surrounding streets. We appreciate your cooperation!

-Do not use the staff parking lots for drop-off. Please use the designated kiss and go or surrounding street parking.

-Walk with your child on the sidewalks and not through the parking lots.

Spirt Week Reminder

During the week of October 30, we will be having a Valley View Spirit Week to build community. The Spirit Days are as follows:

Monday Oct 30 – Wear Orange Day

Tuesday Oct 31 – Halloween Costume Day (see further instruction below)

Wednesday Nov 1 – Fancy Hat Day

Thursday Nov 2 – Wear Your Clothes Backwards Day

Friday Nov 3 - Jersey Day or Wear Red Day

On Tuesday October 31, we will have Halloween dress up day at school. Staff and students are encouraged to wear costumes. The type of costume should be considered for ages 5-11 and not include weapons, fearful, violent, gory attire, full face masks or promote cultural appropriation. We understand that some families would like to share candy with their child’s class. Please do not send candy to school for distribution as we are not permitted to do this.

School Fees

Thanks to all families who have logged in to the MyCBE portal to pay school fees. Please take the time to pay these fees, which include the student supplies, transportation, lunch supervision and field trip fees. For more information on fees and waivers, how to pay CBE fees, or how to set up your account, please visit the CBE website. Thank you.

Collaborative Response Meetings

Our first round of Collaborative Response Meetings were successful. Each grade team met with admin, support staff, and strategists to determine the best support for all learners and created actions for those students receiving targeted support. We are monitoring the progress of our students over the next few weeks and will meet again as a Collaborative Response Team at the end of November. Parents will receive a learning update at the Student Learning Conferences at the end of November.
