Dear Families, 

We had a wonderful week as we celebrated Literacy Week and engaged in many joyful activities. Students and staff had fun with spirit week and the daily literacy trivia. Classes also engaged in some community building activities like literacy door decorating. We hope you had fun with your child(ren) doing the literacy BINGO and other reading adventures!  

Staffing Update 

We are happy to share that with some additional funding and grants, we have been able to hire two Behaviour Support Workers (BSW) for our school. Mrs. Burton, and Mrs. Cavanagh will be joining our team to support students. The BSW role is to work with small groups of students with emotional regulation, social skills development, and positive behaviour supports. We are looking forward to having them on the VVS team! 

Additionally, we have received provincial funding to hire a full-time literacy intervention teacher at Valley View School. We are excited to share that Mrs. Dexter will be taking on this role and Mrs. Aneela Manzoor will be teaching Mrs. Dexter’s grade 3 class from February - June. Mrs. Manzoor has a diverse background in Science and Math and is excited to be joining the Valley View School Team starting on Monday Jan 29, 2024. 

Report Cards and IPPs Available January 30 

Families will be able to view online student report cards for kindergarten – grade 12 students on Jan. 30. Report cards for the 2023-24 school year can be viewed, downloaded and printed. Parents and guardians can log in to MyCBE to view student information including report cards, comments from your child’s teacher and attendance information. For best access to information, log in to the MyCBE portal instead of using the PowerSchool app. For more information or support, please visit the CBE website. 

If your child has an Individual Program Plan (IPP), it will be sent home with your child for your review and signature.
