Dear Families,
We love having Cello, our Assistance Dog, at our school every day to support students. He has been going around to different classes, sometimes reading a book with students! Cello will have a more regular routine soon and will be with us on Monday and Wednesday each week.
Terry Fox Run September 19th
In 1980, Terry Fox, with just one leg, embarked on a cross-country run to raise money for cancer research. Despite his immense challenges, he ran an incredible 143 days and covered 5,373 kilometers before his journey was cut short. His courage and determination continue to inspire millions.
This year, bring a Toonie for Terry and help us reach our goal of $850. Every step and every dollar honor his legacy and supports the fight against cancer. Your donation will go a long way! Thank you for your generosity.
Meet the Teacher September 26th from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
We will have a Meet the Teacher opportunity on Thursday September 26th from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. You will have a chance to meet your child’s teacher and learn more about the curriculum, classroom expectations and routines of the school. Parents will need to sign up for a time slot through your MyCBE account as there will be 2 offerings:
5:30 p.m. – 6:10 p.m.
6:15 p.m. – 6:55 p.m.
Teachers will share a brief presentation with you and will be able to answer questions related to curriculum and classroom expectations.
This is not an individual, 1:1 parent-teacher conference. Please refrain from asking your child’s teacher specific questions about your child’s learning as you will be with a group of parents in a general orientation session.
Fall BBQ September 26th from 4:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Join us for an evening of community fun at our Meet the Teacher and Fall BBQ, organized by the Valley View School Council and the Rotary Club of Calgary!
Event Details:

- Location: Outdoor area between Ian Bazalgette and Valley View schools, near the Valley View west playground
All families from Ian Bazalgette and Valley View schools are invited to attend. This event will offer a chance to meet teachers, learn about your child’s upcoming year, and enjoy a delicious BBQ.
Please RSVP by September 19th using the form linked below so we can prepare enough food for everyone. If you have children at both schools, just complete one form per family.

Head Lice
Head lice is common in children and can be treated at home. We recommend that parents/guardians do a weekly scan of your child’s head to check for head lice. For more information, please visit the AHS website.
School Council Meeting September 17th
The first VVS School Council meeting will be held on Tuesday September 17th from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held virtually, through Microsoft Teams, and is a wonderful way for parents to get involved with their child’s learning at school. The School Council plays a significant role in providing supports for students, like literacy tools and books, math manipulatives, experiential learning opportunities, and more! Please attend the meeting on Tuesday to learn more about the School Council. A meeting link will be emailed the morning of the meeting to all families.
Overdue School Fees
Thanks to all families who have been logging into MyCBE and paying outstanding school fees from the previous year. We still have a lot of families who haven't paid these fees and we kindly ask that you take the time to clear your balance. We appreciate your support!
