Dear Families,

A heartfelt thank you to all the families who joined us for the Celebration of Learning last night at VVS. It was a joy to share the incredible learning, growth, and accomplishments of our students with you. We are truly grateful for your ongoing partnership in your child’s educational journey.

We also appreciate your enthusiastic support of the Scholastic Book Fair—it was wonderful to see so many families choosing books and celebrating literacy together.

A special thank you to our VVS School Council for providing a delicious dinner for our staff. Your thoughtfulness and generosity mean so much to our team.

Thank you for being such an important part of our school community.

Mental Health Week – May 5-11

Next week is Mental Health Week in Canada (May 5–11, 2025), a time to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and foster open conversations about mental well-being. This year’s theme, “Unmasking Mental Health,” invites us to imagine what it would feel like to speak openly about our struggles without fear or shame. Many young people hide their emotions behind a mask to protect themselves from judgment, and this week, we encourage everyone to explore what it means to let those masks fall.

Mental health affects all of us, and acknowledging our feelings—whether joyful, anxious, overwhelmed, or anything in between—is a vital step toward healing and connection. When we share openly, we help others feel seen, heard, and supported.

On Wednesday, May 7th, we invite everyone to participate in Hats On for Mental Health by wearing a hat to show support and spark conversations about mental wellness. Let’s wear our hats with pride and help create a culture where mental health is recognized and respected.

Let’s use this week as a reminder that it’s okay to not be okay—and that reaching out for support is a sign of strength. Together, we can unmask mental health and build a more compassionate and caring community.

Take care of yourselves and each other.

May is Asian Heritage Month

May marks the beginning of Asian History Month, a special time to recognize the significant contributions of Asian Canadians to our nation's history and culture. Throughout the month, our school will offer activities, discussions, and educational opportunities designed to highlight the rich diversity and achievements of Asian communities across Canada.

From learning about the resilience of early Chinese immigrants to celebrating the creativity of South Asian entrepreneurs, our students will embark on a journey of discovery and appreciation. We aim to foster a culture of respect, understanding, and inclusivity within our school community.
