Dear Families,

It’s hard to believe this is the last weekly message for the 2023-2024 school year! It has been exciting to watch your child(ren) grow over the year and to see so many excel in their learning and build positive relationships with their class communities. We have seen so much growth in all areas of learning across all grades, and as we look ahead to next year, learning excellence, well-being, and diversity & inclusion will continue to be priorities for our school. Whatever your summer plans may be, we wish all of you a restful and enjoyable break! Please read below for the latest news and last week of school activities.

Truth and Reconciliation Commitment 2024-2025

This year, our school focused on integrating Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Being into the K-5 Science curriculum. We provided numerous opportunities for staff and students to engage deeply with this important work. Concurrently, we have been considering our TRC Commitment for the 2024-2025 school year.

Our school community engaged in discussions about the possibility of creating an outdoor learning space between our school and Ian Baz. Feedback was gathered from staff, students, and parents during School Council meetings. They shared their ideas on what this space could look like, sound like, and feel like, as well as which Calls to Action inspired them. We compiled this data and identified some common themes.

The story of our reflection and renewal is shared in a 5-minute video created by two of our grade two students, Lily and Scarlett. Please take the time to watch this video and learn more about our journey.

Here is our TRC Commitment for the 2024-2025 school year. Please take the time to read it.
