Dear Families,

We did it! Next week is the last week of school and there’s lots of fun activities planned. As we wrap up another school year together, we want to take a moment to thank all of you for your support and dedication to your child’s learning and development. We appreciate working with you to support your child’s well-being and achievement. For those families moving on to other schools next year, we wish you all the best. To those who are staying with us, we look forward to having you back on September 2, 2025. Our school hours remain the same and we will begin with soft entry at 7:50 a.m. All back-to-school information will be available on our school website. We will also share a back-to-school message later in August. Have a wonderful summer break!

Truth and Reconciliation Commitment 2025-2026

Thank you to everyone for sharing your feedback on this year's TRC Commitment. We have heard from you about the impacts this work has had on your life at school. Here is a summary of the biggest impacts:

Learning Outside - We really enjoy learning outdoors! It helps us feel calm and connected to nature. We are starting to notice and listen more to what’s happening around us outside.

Caring for the Earth - We’re learning how important it is to take care of the land, animals, and plants. We understand now how garbage can hurt nature, so we are being more careful and respectful.

Respecting Different Cultures - We’re learning to respect and celebrate different cultures. We are also learning about Indigenous traditions and how to be kind and fair to everyone.

Seeing Things in New Ways - We’re paying more attention to things like art and stories. Our thinking is changing, and we’re asking more questions and learning in new ways.

Our Families Support This Learning - Our parents have noticed the important learning we’re doing about truth and reconciliation. They think it’s great and want us to keep going next year

We also heard that our school community wants to continue with the same TRC commitment for next year. We're happy to share this commitment with you today:

Valley View School acknowledges and supports the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s (TRC) Calls to Action, and makes the following commitment to action for the 2025-2026 school year:

62.3: Utilize Indigenous knowledges, languages, and teaching methods in classrooms (focus on applying learning that includes inviting Indigenous community members to share knowledge with students).

Commitment to Action

Heart - To Belong: Build and apply an understanding of Indigenous community values such as reciprocity and respect, and how these are lived in relationships with Indigenous students, families, Elders, community members, and the land; and

Body - To Do: Engage the school community to learn about the land where your school is located. Have students, staff, and families share their learning and make commitments to Truth & ReconciliACTION through the CBE Land Acknowledgement

Report Cards

Families can view, download or print online report cards for kindergarten to Grade 12 students starting Wednesday, June 25 until July 25, 2025 through MyCBE. Within MyCBE, families can also view student information, comments from your child’s teacher, assignments and grades and attendance information.

How is My Child Doing in School?

Report cards summarize and communicate student achievement at a point in time. In addition to the report card, schools communicate with parents/guardians about student progress on an ongoing basis in a variety of ways.

School Fees

Please take some time to log into your MyCBE account and pay any unpaid fees for this school year. We appreciate you taking care of this. For more information about fees and waivers, please visit the CBE website.

We’re Moving from X to Instagram!

At the end of this month, we will be saying goodbye to the social media platform X and moving to Instagram. Our new account will be shared with families in August when we return to school.

Spring Dance

Thank you to all the students and parents who attended the Spring Dance! Your attendance helped make the event a wonderful success. As we strive to improve future events, we noticed that several decorations and items belonging to the school council were destroyed and were missing after the dance. To enhance the experience for everyone, we kindly encourage parents to assist in ensuring the safety and preservation of these items during community/school dances. We truly appreciate your ongoing support and collaboration.
