Dear Families,

We’re thrilled to cheer on our Grade 5 and 6 students as they take the field this weekend for the Kiwanis Diversity Cup! Our players are so excited and ready to showcase their skills while having fun competing against other schools. Events like these are fantastic opportunities to build school spirit, foster teamwork, and create lasting memories.

Meanwhile, our Grade 6 students have entered the final stretch of their Provincial Achievement Tests. Over the next week, they’ll be tackling a few more exams, showing dedication and perseverance as they work toward their goals. We’re so proud of their hard work and determination!

Outdoor Classroom Opening

We’re pleased to share that the Outdoor Classroom Opening will be held on Tuesday, June 23rd in the afternoon.  Elder Saa’kokoto along with staff and student representatives from both schools, school council representatives, as well as system leaders, will be present. Knowledge Keeper Clarence Wolfleg will also be drumming with students that morning and will share an honour song at the opening. The opening will be celebrated through reflection and sharing ideas and next steps for the outdoor learning space.

Class Size Reduction Grant

We are pleased to inform you that our school has been allocated 1 additional teaching position(s) for the 2026–27 school year through the Government of Alberta’s Class Size Reduction Grant. This grant funds teaching positions that support improved learning conditions in kindergarten to Grade 9 classrooms. This funding is specifically intended to help reduce class sizes in core subject areas (English Language Arts/French Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies), with priority given to schools experiencing the greatest class size pressures. This decision was made using system-wide data that considers:

  • The number of classes exceeding provincial class size benchmarks
  • Projected enrolment and class organization
  • School programming and grade configuration

Our goal is to ensure students benefit from:

  • Increased teacher attention
  • Improved classroom learning environments
  • Greater support for diverse learning needs

We remain committed to supporting strong learning environments for all students and using our resources thoughtfully and strategically.
