Dear Families,

We want to give a big thank you to everyone who came out to the Community Resource Fair yesterday. Many organizations were there, and we hope everyone who came found lots of useful resources and made some great connections. If you were not able to attend and would like information on available supports and resources in the community, please contact the office.

Celebration of Learning May 16 – Save the Date!

On May 16 we are planning to have a Celebration of Learning at the school from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. This event will highlight the achievements of students in the areas of literacy, numeracy, science, well-being for learning, and the actions we committed to in relation to the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action. We are excited to share student learning with you and look forward to having some time to celebrate student achievements. More information will be shared about this event in the coming weeks.

Scholastic Book Fair

We're excited to announce that our school will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair, which will take place from May 13 to 16 in our learning commons.

The Scholastic Book Fair empowers our students to choose books they love, and with so many options, they’re sure to find themselves in the pages. This year’s Fair is going to be epic, but we need volunteers to make it happen. We hope that you can offer your time and talents to help students become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers —which in turn makes them bolder, prouder, and stronger individuals. And since every purchase benefits our school, helping is twice as rewarding.

If you’re available to lend a hand at this upcoming event, and hold a valid police clearance, please contact our library assistant Ms. Jamieson at jgjamieson@cbe.ab.ca and share which Fair activities interest you most. Opportunities to assist include:

• Helping students write their wish lists on the mornings of May 13 and 14 (8:30am to 11:30am)

• Handling cash at checkout on the mornings of May 15 and 16 (8:30am to 11:30am)

• Checkout during the Celebration of Learning the evening of May 16 (you will get a chance to get away to see your student’s school work) (5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.)

If volunteers attend a Scholastic webinar they get a $25 gift certificate to spend at our book fair. Please email  jgjamieson@cbe.ab.ca for details.

There is also a volunteer opportunity for grade 4 and 5 students the evening of May 16 during the Celebration of Learning (5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.) to welcome people as they arrive at the school and encourage them to enter the $25 Scholastic door prize.

For students, this is one of the most anticipated events of the school year—and as a volunteer, you’ll have the chance to experience the book joy firsthand! Please let us know if you can volunteer.
