We're excited to launch Earth Week activities next week and host our first Community Resource Fair. Please take some time to read through the weekly message for more details.
Earth Week - April 22 - 26
Next week is Earth Week and our classes will be engaging in fun learning and activities to promote environmental stewardship. In addition to the Spirit Week details below, students will also make the following Earth Day pledge:
Earth Week Spirit Theme Days:
Monday - Wear Green and Keep the School Yard Clean!
Tuesday - Wear Animal or Nature Prints and Be one with Nature!
Wednesday - Wear Blue and Save Water!
Thursday - Wear Black and bring in flashlights. Save Energy!
Friday - Backwards Clothes Day! We can reverse climate change by following our Earth Day Pledge!
School Planning
School planning is now underway for next year. We received our RAM (Resource Allocation Method), or budget, for the next school year and we are working on planning the best for our school. During the April 23rd school council meeting, the administration will share an update and possibilities for next year.
Community Resource Fair – April 25th 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
All Valley View families are invited to attend the first Community Resource Fair next Thursday. This fair has been organized by the VVS School Council and the City of Calgary.
This event highlights essential resources available to families within our school community, including job training programs, recreational activities, mental health supports, language and education opportunities, and more! This event is also designed to specifically cater to newcomer families, with the intention of identifying their unique needs and helping in their integration into our community.
The Community Fair will highlight the following:
-We have over 20 organizations in attendance including Trellis, WINS (Women in Need Society), Centre for Newcomers, East Side Family Centre, the Alex Food/Dental Centre, the Calgary Public Library, Bow Valley College, the Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth, KidsSport/Flames Sports, and more!
-CBE interpreters will be on site to help families with translation. Language interpreters on site will speak Arabic, Punjabi and Vietnamese.
-The El Sistema Calgary Multicultural Orchestra Foundation will be in the main hallway playing live music.
-Sankofa Arts & Music Foundation will perform some dances during the event in the gym.

Friday April 26 - Early Dismissal at 12:15 PM (Grades 1-5 attend; Mon/Wed Science Kindergarten attend; no school for Community Kindergarten)
