Dear Families,
The Science Olympics are well underway and students are having a wonderful experience working on their division projects. Division 1 challenge is to create a nest that floats, can hold 3 eggs and an adult bird, uses recycled materials, matches with the environment and includes an anchor. Division 2 challenge is to design a yard model that captures as much rainwater as possible. All students are coming up with some impressive designs! We look forward to sharing these with you at the Celebration of Learning on May 1st.
Support Staff Appreciation Week: April 22nd - 28th
We are so grateful for the incredible work our support staff do each and every day!

Celebration of Learning – May 1st
Join us on May 1st for a Celebration of Learning at the school from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This special event will showcase student achievements in literacy, numeracy, science, and well-being for learning, as well as the actions we've taken in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action. We can't wait to share the exciting progress our students have made with you and celebrate their accomplishments together.
Scholastic Book Fair – April 28th – May 2nd
We're excited to announce that our school will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair, which will take place from April 28, 2025 to May 2, 2025 in our learning commons.
The Scholastic Book Fair empowers our students to choose books they love, and with so many options, they’re sure to find themselves in the pages. This year’s Fair is going to be epic, but we need volunteers to make it happen. We hope that you can offer your time and talents to help students become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers —which in turn makes them bolder, prouder, and stronger individuals. And since every purchase benefits our school, helping is twice as rewarding.
If you’re available to lend a hand at this upcoming event, and hold a valid police clearance, please contact our library assistant Ms. Priya at kpbadda@cbe.ab.ca and share which Fair activities interest you most. Opportunities to assist include:
• Helping students write their wish lists in the noon of April 28 (11:30 am to 2 pm) and April 30 (8:30 am to 2 pm)
• Handling cash at checkout on May 1st (8:30am to 2:30 pm and during celebration learning event ) (5:30 pm to 7 pm)
There is also a volunteer opportunity for grade 5 and 6 students the evening of May 2nd during the Celebration of Learning (5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.) to welcome people as they arrive at the school and encourage them to enter the $25 Scholastic door prize.
For students, this is one of the most anticipated events of the school year—and as a volunteer, you’ll have the chance to experience the Bookjoy firsthand! Please let us know if you can volunteer.
Digital Dilemma: The Impact of Screens, Social Media, and Gaming on Youth
In today’s digital world, screens are everywhere—but what impact do they have on youth? This session offered by Alberta Health Services will explore the effects of social media, video gaming, and screen time on key areas of life, including mental health, social connections, and overall well-being. We’ll discuss evidence-based insights on both the risks and benefits of digital engagement, as well as practical strategies for fostering a balanced approach. Join us for a meaningful conversation on how to support young people in developing healthy screen habits while strengthening real-world connections.
