Dear Families,

Next week, we will be recognizing Support Staff Appreciation Week. Our support staff play an essential role in our school each day. From educational assistants and administrative staff to custodial and support services, their dedication, care, and behind‑the‑scenes work help create a safe, welcoming, and supportive learning environment for our students.

We are grateful for the invaluable contributions they make to our school community, and we invite you to join us in expressing your thanks and appreciation for all that they do.

Thank you for helping us celebrate the incredible members of our school team.

Earth Week

Next week, our school will be celebrating Earth Week! Throughout the week, students will be learning more about the environment and exploring simple, meaningful ways to care for our planet. Classroom activities will focus on environmental awareness and sustainability practices, helping students understand how small actions can make a big difference.

As part of our Earth Week activities, students will also be lending a helping hand around the school by participating in outdoor and indoor clean‑up efforts. This is a great opportunity for them to take pride in their school community while practicing responsibility and teamwork.

We look forward to a week of learning, reflection, and action as we work together to care for our environment.

Thank you for your continued support.

Maatoomsii’ Pookaiks (Blackfoot phrase that translates to “Putting Children First”) - Non-Instructional Day on April 24, 2026

As part of Maatoomsii’ Pookaiks, our school remains committed to reconciliation through actions aligned with our Truth and Reconciliation Commitment, School Development Plan, and Three-Year Education Plan.

On this day, staff will be working together to plan an Indigenous Feast for our Indigenous families, following one of the final pieces of guidance shared with us by Elder John. This gathering is intended to strengthen relationships, support student success, and support smooth transitions for Indigenous students who are moving on. Teachers will also spend some time working on designing tasks that weave Indigenous ways of knowing and being into learning or supporting student transitions for next school year.

These actions reflect Valley View Schools' ongoing commitment to reconciliation and relationship‑building within our school community.
