Dear Families,

Thank you to all the families who attended the Parent-Teacher Conferences and to those who supported the Scholastic Book Fair. We hope you gained a clear understanding of your child’s progress in relation to curriculum outcomes at this time. To those celebrating Eid and Navroz, we wish you joyful celebrations with your families. We hope everyone enjoys the Spring Break and look forward to welcoming students back on March 30th.

Pi Day

The results of our Pi Day are in and we raised $116 dollars for the grade six upcoming camp. We thank everyone who donated money for their child to see a staff member get pied in the face by students who recited the most digits of pi!

The students who were able to recite the most digits this year were:

Charu (kindergarten) 50 digits

Dean (gr 4) 276 digits

Yasmeen (gr 3) almost 400 digits

We congratulate all the students who participated and tried to learn more about Pi, and to the winners this year. We also appreciate that Mr. Hawken, Mr. Todos and Ms. Dharamsi all took a pie in the face for these students!

Upcoming Events for Families

There are a lot of fun VVS School Council activities and events being planned for VVS families in the upcoming weeks after the Spring Break. These events are important as they build community and offer support to students and families. We rely on parent support through volunteering and hope that we will have many parents helping to make these events successful:

Bus Issues

We would like to remind families that students who use CBE Transportation Services are expected to follow the Student Code of Conduct and all bus safety rules.

We have seen an increase in student behaviour concerns on school buses and want families to know that these matters are taken seriously. All buses are equipped with video and audio surveillance, and when an incident is serious, footage may be reviewed to determine what occurred.

In some cases, student behaviour may result in a bus misconduct, which can lead to a bus suspension.

We ask that you please take some time to speak with your child about appropriate behaviour on the bus, as our goal is for all students to have a safe and positive ride to and from school each day.

Upcoming Dates:

Please note that students return to school on Monday March 30th and soft entry is at 7:50 a.m. Also note that on Friday April 3rd, the school will be closed to observe Good Friday.

We hope that each one of you has a restful and enjoyable spring break and we look forward to seeing your children refreshed and ready to finish the year off strong!
